Embracing Diversity: Inspiring Inclusion at Zone

I firmly believe that diversity and inclusion are not buzzwords, but essential cornerstones of a thriving organization. In today’s globalized world, embracing a diverse workforce unlocks a multitude of benefits for any business, fostering innovation, creativity, and a deeper understanding of our constantly evolving client base.

At Zone, we are committed to building a workplace that reflects the rich tapestry of our communities. Our journey towards an inclusive workplace is not without its challenges. Unconscious bias and systemic inequities can persist, hindering inclusivity. To address these, we have implemented several initiatives:

  • An Inclusive Hiring Practices. Zone has implemented diverse interview panels and standardized interview processes to ensure a fair and unbiased evaluation of candidates. Our approach emphasizes transparency and inclusivity throughout the hiring process.
  • A Total Rewards Strategy that fosters integration and equity. We understand that our employees are individuals with diverse needs and aspirations. That’s why we’re committed to a Total Rewards strategy that goes beyond the traditional one-size-fits-all approach. We believe in creating a work environment that empowers everyone, especially our female employees, to thrive both personally and professionally.

We have a flexible work arrangement that includes remote work options, and flexible start and end times. This allows our women to manage their work schedules around childcare, appointments, or other personal commitments without sacrificing the objectives of their teams or organisation. 

We also have a generous parental leave that provides ample time for new mothers to bond with their newborns or adopted children. Our wellness program also caters to the unique needs of our women, including access to health screenings, and a fitness program designed for busy schedules. Other initiatives we have in the pipeline are financial wellness support, mentorship and sponsorship programs that will connect our women with experienced leaders (internal and external) who can provide guidance, support career development, and help navigate challenges in the workplace.

By offering these benefits, our goal is to create an environment where women feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their full potential, without sacrificing their family commitments.

  • We implemented a design thinking process that eliminates unconscious bias. While we actively promote a culture of empathy and understanding by acknowledging the impact of unconscious bias on our decision-making, the People & Culture team is tasked to ensure our design thinking process excludes these biases from our approach. The end game is to deliver unconscious bias training across our Leadership team, raising awareness of how implicit biases can impact decision-making and fostering a culture of empathy.
  • We also believe in the power of feedback to drive continuous improvement. We actively seek feedback from our employees through surveys, focus groups, and open communication channels. This feedback allows us to identify areas for improvement and adapt our strategies accordingly.
